Ben is a director in our Investment Fraud & Mis-selling group. He brings a unique combination of legal training and deep financial services regulatory experience to the team.
Following an early career in investment and then retail banking, Ben co-founded a number of businesses. These included, Opus Group, a multi-disciplinary financial services and wealth management group with £200m AUM, MAIA Asset Management Ltd, a boutique discretionary fund management business with over £380m AUM, and Phoenix Sport and Media Group, a business which provides an investor rescue service to current and former professional sportspeople who have fallen victim to negligent or fraudulent professional advice.
Ben has a wealth of experience in financial and legal services and specialises in regulatory matters, having worked in this field for over fifteen years. Over the last decade, he has held a number of senior manager, controlled and regulated functions with both the FCA and the SRA. Ben’s legal training, combined with his extensive experience and qualifications in banking and regulated financial services, has led to him being regularly enlisted as an expert witness in complex financial services litigation matters and fraud investigations.
Ben previously trained at a city boutique litigation firm, primarily working alongside the firm’s sporting client base, investigating and bringing claims based on allegations of investment fraud and mis-selling against a range of defendants.
Ben gained his LLB at the University of Birmingham. He went on to complete his LPC and a Master’s degree in Economics. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Personal Finance Society (PFS), a Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and formerly a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment (CISI).
